Forgiving Yourself and Others (A Devotional)

Written By, Crystal S Kauffman

Have you struggled with forgiving someone, who has hurt you or abused you? Do you find yourself thinking about it a lot lately? If so, this is normal to feel, whenever someone you trust has intentionally hurt you. However, you must find a way to give your hurt and pain to the Lord, for he will release you of the burden of guilt. Then, he will help you learn how to forgive those, who have victimized you or someone you love.

The first memory verse is: Acts 3:19…“Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.” (KJV)

As you recite this verse, remember that you must confess all of your sins against God and others. Once you ask him to forgive you for all of your sins, he is just and will erase all of your sins immediately. For we must spend time, learning exactly what forgiveness truly is, because it can hinder your spiritual growth. Honestly, forgiveness is ceasing to be angry over unacceptable behaviors that have affected you.

By forgiving someone, you are not giving them your permission to repeat the behaviors that hurt you. Instead, you should recognize the feelings that you feel, since these emotions are only going to cause you pain. Be honest and ask for the forgiveness of others, once you have evaluated your role in the entire situation. This way, you can free yourself, from the burden of bitterness and anger that can lead to depression.

The second memory verse is 1 John 1:9…“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (KJV)

Recite this verse, as you begin your transitional journey from being a victim to becoming a survivor. No matter what has happened in the past, you can fully overcome its negative effect on your life. However, you must forgive others also, for the pain and anguish or their behaviors or actions to stop. But, by allowing the offender to receive mercy, you are becoming worthy of God’s complete forgiveness.

No longer will you receive condemnation, instead you will find peace that passes all understanding. In that moment, you will feel the burden of your guilt start melt away as the anguish disappears. Suddenly, all of your past iniquities will be washed away and fully forgotten by your heavenly father. Therefore, you will become a new creature in Christ, who is totally blameless and spotless before God.

You must learn to reprogram your mind, whenever you are fighting to regain control of your life from active addiction. You must remember that you always attract the same energy that you give off to other people. If you are a negative person, then you will magnetically attract negative people in your life. However, when you change the way you think, you will begin to attract positive people in your life.

Many times, you have to walk away from the old friends, in order to make a new life for yourself. Don’t be afraid to change your surroundings, because you will find that better things are waiting for you, once you let go of the negative things in your mind and life that are holding you back. Changing your mindset will allow you to meet new people and land life changing opportunities, which can actually change your entire life.

You will find that being around positive people and thinking about positive things is so much easier than stressing or obsessing about the negative in your life. Create a journal and write down all the positive things in your life every single morning and night. Stay focused on those positive things in your life, in order to continue attracting positive things in your life.

If you begin to think negatively, stop and reprogram your mind immediately! Never let the intrusive negative thoughts overwhelm your mind, since these thoughts can cause you to relapse and you may not make it out of active addiction this time. Always look for the positive things in your life, because they will help you stay focus and give you countless reasons to love your life.

Positive attracts positive, but negative attracts negative. Always remember that!

Everything You Wanted To Know About Blue Sharks

Where does it live?

The Blue Shark or Prionace glauca is most often found in swimming in the open ocean and is never really found near the coastal shorelines. According to FLMNH (2012), this species of shark can be found hunting and living in temperate or tropical waters all over the world. These sharks usually blend into their environment like living in “kelp forest” or “coral reef areas.”(PBS, 2012) Blue Shark prefer cooler water temperatures, but they have been known swim in warmer waters.

What does it look like?

The Blue Shark has a bright blue color or indigo color, but their underbelly is usually a grayish white color. This species of shark has small white rings around its eyes and a pointed nose that will help humans identify them. According to Enchanted Learning (2012), this species of shark has a body that is sleek yet tapered, which allows it to be a graceful swimmer. The adult Blue Shark is about 12 ft. long and it has a moderate sized dorsal fin that sits further on its back. This allows this species can jump out of the water and is known as one of the fastest swimmers due to its elongated caudal fin.

What does it eat?

The Blue Sharks color helps camouflage the shark whenever it is swimming or hunting for its preferred prey. This species of shark has serrated and pointy teeth that help the sharks grab slippery prey like fish. According to Enchanted Learning (2012), the Blue Shark prefers squid but will eat almost anything that it decides to hunt. These sharks also hunts for prey like sardines or anchovies, but this shark is known as an opportunistic feeder.

Do they reproduce?

Blue sharks gives birth to live pups, but they can have anywhere from 4-135 pups with each litter they have. However, a normal litter of pups would be about 25 to 50, but more has been reported over the years. According to Canadian Shark Research Laboratory (2012), newborn pups are born after about 9-12 month of gestation and the pups are about 16- 20 inches at birth. The female may wait months or years before she begins to ovulate and decides to reproduce again.

Are they dangerous?

Blue Sharks are dangerous to swimmers, because there have been recorded attacks on people by this species of shark. However, fishermen are catching these sharks, because they can become a nuisance. The shark now has fewer numbers than it has in the past, due to fisherman catching and killing these majestic creatures. Unfortunately, according to CSRL (2012), this shark is blamed for attacking victims of air and sea disasters.

Game of Life

Take a look deep down inside,
Let the child in you be your guide.
Life is like a great big ocean,
The waves swirl with so many emotions.

Drowning in a sea of sorrow,
You cannot imagine living until tomorrow,
As you walk across the fire,
Let your heart fill with desire.

However, if lie you in a bed and cry,
The precious things in life will pass you by.
This is a game of sink or swim,
So, try harder and play to win.
